Dunes Du Race Report
Wow, what a race today. Weather was a little cool and windy, but hey, you can't have everything at the end of September, right?
I got off to a pretty good start on the run. There was a huge group that separated themselves from everybody else right away. By the time I hit the trailhead, we were all in single file.
I managed to maintain a good pace throughout the race...The first mile marker was a little short...I showed 6:36 on my watch, but there's no way I was rollin' up those kind of miles. Mile two was more like it...14:30ish...that's more like it.
The bike was great. The new Jade Ray performed quite well. Did I say it was windy? Well, the aerodynamic nature of the Jade makes the wind irrelevant. I averaged just under 22mph for the roughly 18 mile ride. Good stuff.
I was 27th out of the woods...I only know that because by buddy's son told me there were 26 others in front of me. I managed to make up a little ground and finish 23rd overall. I know there were at least two teams in front of me, so they don't count.
Peace.
