It's Gonna be a New Year

2008 will certainly be a test for me. Assuming the blood clot in my lower left leg heals soon, I'll be starting out with a surgically repaired Achilles tendon. I hope to have about 6-8 weeks of rehab, then get back on it...slowly, but with purpose.

My 2008 race season is pretty much shot. My only hope is get in a couple late season duathlons, but I'm not signing up for anything ahead of time.

The test for me will be to stay motivated. It's been really tough this fall not being able to run. I did manage to get out for an hour long spin yesterday. It was almost 50 degrees and overcast. The pavement was a little wet, but the bike needs an off-season cleaning anyway, right?

Getting in the pool lately hasn't been a problem. Two to 3 times per week, but getting on the bike has been tough. I hate the trainer!

Christmas today with my extended family. If I get back in time, perhaps I can hit the pool today!

Merry Christmas to anyone who might stop by the Blog today...

Remedial Legislation

I can't believe my State Senator actually proposed legislation that would require 3rd graders be flunked if they do not read at "grade level". This is such a simplistic, nonsensical approach to education it's laughable. Ask any educator you know if they think this is a good idea.

I did my part by here in the local paper.

It kind of reminds me of another would-be legislator...
